Bird Families

An ongoing collaborative project working with photographer, Bill Newsinger and the Bird Skin collections at New Walk Museum in Leicester to explore the beauty and diversity between bird families and species. The artworks use photography and mixed media onto 310gsm Fabriano paper and offer a rare insight into how the species are categorised and preserved as part of an important museum collection. This project demonstrates a small selection of bird Orders found around the world, which are catalogued under 82 families. Recently there have been large changes to the order in which birds are listed to better reflect their evolutionary history based on new evidence from DNA studies.
